My Response To Question Number 5

similar films

  • We have similarities to different thriller films, Obsessed is our big similarity, as we have the same type of story line of blackmailing and characters.  kidnap is also a smilier film mainly because of the kidnapping.

My Response To Question Number 2

  • We have a lone character that is the wife that will be blackmailing the husband. The story will be told through her eyes, she will be the one pushing the film along. She is also the Antigenes character as she kidnaps the secretary. We don't really have a portaging character in our story because they all are villain like characters.
  • We slightly disagree with john's saying because our film is pushed along by females. we have male gaze in our film as we have lots of close ups of face and legs, also just having the females in our film can reflect male gaze

My Response To Question Number 4

Magazines

  • We will advertise in film magazines for example NME, so that it can also attract men. We will also advertise in popular woman magazines like Look and closer, as our film is targeted at woman mainly.

My Response To Question Number 1

Titles

  • We chose to do this type of Title font as it reflects our story and creates and effect. the style of the font reflects the idea of blackmailing someone and sending ransom notes.
Character Introduction
  • The characters are introduced in our film by walking into the screen and the other one driving into the scene. This helps build up the tension of what is going to happen next
Image control and lighting
  • Using the tripod help us control the steadiness of out image, the ligthing on the scene was perfect for us as it was the right and low-key.

My Response To Question Number 3

 Production company

  • A production company logo gives recognition to people about who made the products, it instantly gives a name for the company that will be known. we have a production company logo to put on all of the things we have produced, this is so that people know us by our name and can identify easily.

Why the various people are named in the titles

  • Various people are named in the titles because they appear in the order of most important. we have reflected this by story boarding out titles and putting the right names in order of importance in out sequence.

My Response to Question Number 7

For this part i will be talking about Title sequence and Location
Scrip

Titles

  • Looking back at our primarily task we did not use titles or even put a title sequence in, from this we learned that not having a title sequence makes it look unprofessional. with the title sequence you can set the mood and atmosphere of the film and the audience is introduced to the film, knowing what kind of things will be happening. In our Final film we used titles this made it look much more professional, also having the title sequence in our film set the mood and starts of the film better. We understand that having lots of titles looks good.

Location choice

  • From our primarily task you can see that your location choice did not look all great, however learning that the location a key part in the film and needs to be right, we set our final film location in an isolated area that for fills the conventions of a thriller.

Continuity errors (jump cuts)

  • We learned that our film needs to flow and have continuity throw out, so the audience understands whats going on and doesn't get confused. We know that Jump cut are good at certain times however the story still needs to flow.  In our primarily idea we have a few jump cuts this makes the sequence look bad and the audience get confuse, however in our final film the continuity flows and the audience understands whats going on instead of having loads of jump cuts and continuity errors around.

My Response to Question Number 6

Script

  • We learnt how to use the digital camera to set out our story board of the film, we took pictures step by step of how the sequence is going to go and what camera angles and movements we will be using.

  • We used the Sony HD big cameras to film the opening sequence outside. We also used the small Sony HDV Digital HD camera to film our title sequence inside. When using the Cameras a tripod was used to gain more control and steadiness throughout.

  • On the Apple macs we used final cut pro, this was so we could all have a chance at our own individual edits. We then joined them together to make the final opening sequence and edited our clips for the title sequence in final cut, we edited and added effects like bad tv and colour correction over the top to make it fit the conventions of a thriller.

What we learned
camera

With the camera we learned the different types of shots, angles and movements. We learned how to handle the camera holding it correctly and focusing on certain points.  Also by zooming all the time doesn't give a good effect and looks unprofessional, we learned to roll in and out while shooting (counting to 5 before any movement happens) .
